Agua Fria High School celebrated the opening of its new cafeteria with students, staff, and community partners. Avondale Mayor Mike Pineda, an Agua Fria alumnus, shared how honored he was to be part of the celebration and return to campus. Governing Board Member Sarah Silk spoke about the importance of investing in spaces where students learn, grow, and connect. ​​​​​​​ The new cafeteria expands capacity from 270 to 435 people, creating a true community space for the Owls.

Academic Superstar

The Agua Fria High School District is proud to announce the launch of the Superintendent’s Academic Super Stars, a monthly recognition program designed to highlight students who exemplify academic excellence.

Emily Beckstead stands out as a QuestBridge College Prep Scholar and applicant for the National Match Scholarship. She has earned the Quest for Excellence Humanities Award, AP Scholar with Distinction, and National Top School Recognition for 2025. As President and cofounder of Agua Fria’s Psychology Club and Secretary of NHS, Emily demonstrates exceptional leadership and service, including volunteering at Banner Health. She plans to study psychology at Stanford University and continue her passion for behavioral science, having placed sixth in HOSA’s Behavioral Health competition and earned a perfect 5 on the AP Psychology exam.

The Academies offer pathways for students to explore high-wage, in-demand careers and understand the education, training, and credentials needed to meet their career goals. By aligning core classes, such as Algebra, English, Science, and US History, with workforce-focused experiences, students can apply classroom lessons to the business community.
