Attendance Policy

STUDENT CHECKOUT
 
If you need to sign your student out early, please email afhsattendance@aguafria.org and include the following information:

Student ID Number
Student Full Name
Reason for Early Checkout
A valid copy/image of your Driver's License/State Issued Identification
 
ABSENCES
 
On the day of the absence, a parent/ legal guardian must notify the school's attendance office by email at afhsattendance@aguafria.org or by calling (623) 932-7300

Please include the following information when emailing or calling regarding attendance:

Student's 5-digit ID number
Student's Full Name
Parent/Guardian's name
Parent/Guardian's phone number
Reason for absence


Medical absences must have a doctor's note submitted to the attendance office in person or via email.

Students who have 10 consecutive days of absences in all classes WILL BE DROPPED from school for non-attendance.

The attendance office will often take up to 3-5 days to enter all school business (SB) activities.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
 
In order to receive credit for the semester, 90% attendance is required in each assigned class (A.R.S. 15-803B). Should a student accumulate 10 total absences (verified and/or unverified) in a semester class credit can be withheld.  Per the student handbook the following absences do not count toward your 10 absences: Medically excused (doctors note), Chronic Health (Form must be on file), School Business, and Suspensions. Please note that if you are more than 15 minutes late to a class you are considered absent. 
 
  • 5 unexcused absences or 8 total= Student Plan with Admin and a call home
  • 5, 8, 9 total absences= Email sent to student and family
  • 10 unexcused absences or 15 total= Placed on Appeal Plan and must show for a hearing at the end of the semester to determine credit loss
 
TARDY POLICY
 
  • Attendance is taken at the start of every class.
  • If a student comes to class after the bell, the class teachers will mark them TARDY.
  • If a student arrives to class without a pass 15 or more minutes late, the class teachers will mark them ABSENT.

TARDY CONSEQUENCES:

  • Tardy #3-Warning Email to student and family
  • Tardy #6- After-School Detention
  • Tardy #9-Owl Overtime (Wednesday detention 12:25-2:05)
  • Tardy #12-ISS (In-School Suspension) and Mandatory Parent Meeting
  • After #12-Tardy Intervention Plan
