Choosing Your Path
Not everyone will attend a college or university, or attend a trade school, or enlist into the military. Some of us jump right into the workforce. Here's an opportunity for you to find your path. To learn more about each path and the next steps, click on the path that interests you the most.

U.S. Marine Corps
Explore Our Legacy, Embrace Our Future
For 250 years, the United States Marine Corps has served honorably in every clime and place. Founded on November 10, 1775, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the Marines have fought from the shores of Tripoli to the valleys of Afghanistan – always the most ready when the nation is least ready.
Coming from all walks of life, Marines are forged by the fires of the Crucible, turning everyday citizens into adaptive warfighters with problem-solving skills and a willingness to win against any adversary. No matter their ranks, Marines stay true to the uncompromising standards found in their core values of honor, courage, and commitment.
Those who have worn the uniform continue to serve their nation and their Corps through their lived examples of our ethos, leading the way in business and their communities, and embodying the spirit of “Once a Marine, always a Marine.”
Marines always answer the call of the Nation – distinguishing themselves in battles at Belleau Wood, Iwo Jima, Okinawa, the Chosin Reservoir, Hue City, Fallujah, and Marjah. The same fighting spirit that led Marines then thrives in our Marines today. On any given day, nearly 38,000 Marines are forward deployed around the globe, enabling the Corps to be first on scene, first to help, first to contain a brewing crisis, and if required to do so, first to fight anywhere for as long as it takes. Marines stand always ready.
For 250 years, the United States Marine Corps has prided itself on exemplifying its motto of “Semper Fidelis” or “Always Faithful.” Please join in celebrating 250 years of the Marine Corps faithful service to our nation.

U.S. Navy
What Is the Navy?
Since 1775, America’s Navy has maintained freedom of the seas. Not only for our nation, but for our allies and strategic partners. We are the most powerful Navy in the world. We are here to preserve the peace, respond in crisis and win decisively in war. We operate around the world, from seabed to space, in cyberspace and the information environment to secure our nation.
But what does that really mean? As the threats to our nation grow, we are tasked with defending our homeland. We’re here to deliver decisive combat power when necessary to win at war. It means our ships are here to keep shipping lanes open, so packages can cross the ocean without interruption. Our submarines defend the fiber-optic cables on the sea floor, so your internet connection remains strong. Naval aviators keep the skies clear and deliver critical strikes when needed. In cyberspace, our teams defend our nation’s networks, developing new strategies to win in the online battlefield. Most importantly, we train the best and brightest warfighters to serve as Sailors aboard our vessels and on bases around the world. In America’s Navy, we stand the watch for our nation.

U.S. Army National Guard
We recognize December 13th as the birthday of the National Guard. On this date in 1636, the first militia regiments in North America were organized in Massachusetts. Based upon an order of the Massachusetts Bay Colony's General Court, the colony's militia was organized into three permanent regiments to better defend the colony. Today, the descendants of these first regiments - the 181st Infantry, the 182nd Infantry, the 101st Field Artillery, and the 101st Engineer Battalion of the Massachusetts Army National Guard – share the distinction of being the oldest units in the U.S. military. December 13, 1636, thus marks the beginning of the organized militia, and the birth of the National Guard's oldest organized units is symbolic of the founding of all the state, territory, and District of Columbia militias that collectively make up today's National Guard.
