Earn College Credit in High School "Dual Enrollment"
What Is Dual Enrollment?
Dual Enrollment gives high school students the opportunity to earn college credits while completing their high school coursework. Students enrolled in eligible classes can receive both high school and college credit, helping them get a head start on their college education.
How Does Dual Enrollment Work?
Each year, students select courses for the upcoming school year. Students who have completed the required prerequisite courses may have the opportunity to enroll in one or more Dual Enrollment-eligible classes, including:
- AP Calculus AB/BC, AB & Pre-Calculus — Mr. Boothman
- Algebra III A/B — Mrs. Williams (Castagna)
- AP Biology A/B — Mrs. Yonamine
- Honors Anatomy & Physics — Mrs. Yonamine
- English III — Ms. Spicer
- AP U.S. History — Ms. Kervin
- Sports Medicine I — Ms. Vlask
- Sports Medicine II — Mrs. Mowbray
When Do Students Enroll?
At the beginning of each eligible class, the teacher will guide students through the Dual Enrollment registration process with either Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) or Glendale Community College (GCC).
Students will receive instructions and assistance to help them complete the enrollment process correctly.
How Much Does It Cost?
Dual Enrollment courses are offered at a reduced tuition rate, with a portion of the cost subsidized by AFUHSD.
Students may also apply for a grant that can cover the remaining cost. Grant eligibility is not guaranteed, and not every student will qualify.
Additional information about tuition, grant eligibility, and the enrollment process will be provided to students in their Dual Enrollment-eligible classes.
Parent/Guardian Approval
A parent or guardian must approve a student's participation and enrollment in the Dual Enrollment program.
Dual Enrollment is a great opportunity for eligible students to earn college credit, experience college-level coursework, and begin building their college transcript while still in high school.
